Banyoles takes over from Brandenburg and in 2025 the Estany will host the Masters Rowing Regatta
The German city of Brandenburg hosted the World Rowing Masters Regatta from September 12 to 15. It is the world championship for veterans and thousands of rowers over the age of 27 take part. The meeting has a different venue every year and next year it will be held in Banyoles. It was planned for 2021, but the pandemic postponed it until 2025, coinciding with the centenary of the Banyoles Swimming Club.
It will be the first time that the city and Estany will host this competition, which will be organized by the organization and Banyoles City Council. The dates were already confirmed a few months ago, from September 10 to 14.
A delegation from Banyoles, led by the first deputy mayor and Councilor for Sports of the Banyoles City Council, Jordi Congost, and the president of the CNB, Jordi Casanova, went to Brandenburg to fine-tune the details of the relay. They learned first hand the organizational and logistical deployment of a competition that in Germany has brought together more than 4,000 rowers from 700 clubs from all over the world.
