Girona is a small city. It is located approximately 100 kilometres from Barcelona, and 20 km from Banyoles. Girona bus&train station is located in city center.

 

 

Options:

 

1. Transfer to Girona from Barcelona Airport by Train

 

There are no direct trains from Barcelona Airport to Girona. Therefore, it is necessary to take a train into the centre of Barcelona to head out towards Girona.

If you are arriving into Terminal 1 (T1)  you must go to Terminal 2 (T2). The R2 Nord is the train line that connects Terminal T2 of Barcelona Airport with the city of Barcelona and its metropolitan area, with a train frequency of every 30 minutes. The R2 line has three branches: R2, R2 Nord, and R2 Sud. You will need to take a shuttle bus from the terminal T1.

Take the Barcelona Airport Train R2 Nord to Estació Sants. At Estació Sants you will need to change.

 

There are numerous trains travelling from Estació Sants to Girona - approximately three every hour. On average the journey lasts about 40 min to 1 hour 20 minutes (fast train or regional).

2. Transfer to Girona or Banyoles from Barcelona by Coach

Bus From Barcelona Nord Station. There is a bus service called "Barcelona Bus" that runs from Barcelona Nord Bus station in the city centre to Girona. You will need to use a combination of different transport methods to get to Barcelona Nord station from the Airport so it is not straightforward, especially if you have luggage.

3. Taxi

 

The distance from Barcelona Airport to Girona is approximately 90 km. This will take about one hour in a taxi. Taxi aprox. Fare: €190.00

 

Travelling from Barcelona Airport to Girona is quite simple. First check whether the coach from the airport is running when you arrive. However, if not, a train journey from Barcelona city centre runs on a regular basis and is, in fact, cheaper than the coach. Remember, if you need to travel to Girona Airport - this is outside of Girona's town centre and will require an extra journey.
