The Banyoles Town Hall and Cub Natació Banyoles are preparing the organization of the Masters Rowing Regatta, which was scheduled for 2021 but was postponed to 2025 due to the pandemic, coinciding with the entity's centenary.
The event is a major goal for the rowing section and will be held in the city for the first time, with the dates set from September 10 to 14, 2025. At the end of last year, a meeting was held in Lausanne with the Town Hall, the CNB, and the International Rowing Federation (FISA) to kick off the organization of the event in the city and the creation of the various organizing committees.
When asked about the event at the council meeting at the end of February, the Town Hall’s Sports Councillor, Jordi Congost, detailed that the event gathers around 4,000 veteran rowers from all over the world each year, with thousands of accompanying people, which represents a significant economic boost for the hosting territories. The forecast is for between 10,000 and 11,000 boats to participate, with an estimated budget of around 400,000 euros in registration fees, in addition to commercial sponsorships.
